We are looking to appoint two committed and enthusiastic Enforcement Officers who have a passion for the environment and want to make a difference in Bury. Do you have the skills and drive to improve our streets and open spaces through awareness raising, community engagement and enforcement?
You will join the Neighbourhoods Enforcement Team (NET) and will be responsible for the delivery of a comprehensive enforcement programme on fly tipping, littering, flyposting and other environmental crimes. Working as part of a team of two, supported by NET Officers, you will be required to investigate community environmental crime issues, and deliver resulting outcomes. This will include issuing informal warnings, Fixed Penalty Notices and preparing prosecution reports. A working knowledge of PACE is essential. As well as enforcement, you will work with other agencies and partners to provide advice, education and assistance to customers to ensure they are aware of their obligations.
With a B-Tech in Environmental Health or a significant and demonstrable enforcement qualification and/or experience, you will be self-motivated with excellent communication skills. You should be familiar with the relevant environmental legislation and have an understanding of the issues relating to the control of street focused anti-social behaviour.
The ideal candidate for this role will be from an enviro-enforcement or health and safety enforcement background. You will need to have previous experience in local authority enforcement work and ideally be familiar with the Fixed Penalty Notice procedure and protocol.
This is a 12 month fixed term contract, 37 hour flexible working week which may include some out of hours evening and weekend working. Car allowance payable for the provision of your vehicle, or a pool vehicle may be provided.
Salary Grade 10 - £28,672 to £31,346 per annum.
