Working hours: 36 hours per week

We are on our way to achieving our goal to provide Outstanding support and care to children, families, carers and practitioners across Salford. We are investing in the right social workers to get us there across our teams from newly qualified social workers to team managers including those who are looking to relocate to the area. 
We are expanding our teams within our Stepping Stones Cared for Team and have a vacancy for an Advanced Social Worker to join us.

Our stepping stones team is made up of 3 teams of 8 social workers, 4 advanced social workers, three team managers and one service manager and head of service. Our cared for team work with cared for children in various settings such as residential, foster care, connected persons and at home with parents. You will support children and young people following the finalising of Court Proceedings up until the age of 16 or discharge. 
We are unique in that we have a separate team to assist social workers in discharging of orders or work carried out before transferring to a new team. 
We are rich in resources including our own CAMHS service which is STARLAC to our specialist Route29 service which helps with placement stability and rehab homes including after hours support, visits including weekend. 
Have a keen interest in an area? As an Advanced Social Worker we are keen for you to have specialisms or be a ‘champion’ of practice in a certain area and offer the opportunity to become a practice educator if you wish to do so.

Your role will include:

You will effectively manage a limited caseload of cared for children and young people in accordance with statutory responsibilities. You will deploy these responsibilities in accordance with national and local policies and procedures to secure positive outcomes for children.

You will have responsibility for the supervision of social work support officers, qualified social work staff and trainees and contribute to the development of other staff including other social workers. 

You will build effective relationships with children, young people and their families enabling full participation in assessment, planning, review and decision making. 
You will manage safeguarding risk effectively, working within a multi-agency environment, providing a professional social work service. You will secure access to services, negotiating and challenging other professionals and organisations to provide the help required.
You will support the practice manager with the development and performance of the team.
You will undertake audits and quality assurance of case files.  
You will work in accordance with national and local policies and procedures, and use the law, regulatory and statutory guidance to inform practice decisions.
