27.5 hours, Part-Time (4 days a week) 
Temporary (July 2025) with the possibility of being made permanent

Your Role 
 
To start as soon as possible, we are seeking an enthusiastic and committed person to join our service as a Specialist Teaching Assistant to support the development, learning, and inclusion of deaf children and young people who use either speaking and listening and/or BSL signed communication.  
 
The role is within a team in a service providing specialist support for deaf children and young people, working under the guidance of the Head of Service, Team leader and Specialist Teachers of deaf children and young people. 
 
About You
 
The successful candidate for this post will be a person who would like to use or develop skills and experience in working in the specialist deaf education sector. We welcome and will consider applications from candidates who are not experienced in deaf education, but who have a background, knowledge or strong interest in working with deaf children. Excellent communication skills are essential, including a minimum of British Sign Language level 2. 
 
About Us
 
The post will be mainly based at either our primary or secondary schools resourced provisions for deaf children/young people. You would be supported in your role by a friendly team and the team leader for deaf children and young people.  Further professional development opportunities will be provided. We welcome applicants who are deaf or hearing. The Hearing and Vision Specialist Service is committed to safeguarding children and young people and this post will require an enhanced DBS check.
