Contract: Temporary (Five year contract)

Hours: 37 hours per week

Salary: Scale 2 SCP 2-4 £22,737 - £23,114 per annum (plus Essential car user allowance)

Due to career advancement from the previous post holder the Council is seeking to recruit a highly motivated person looking to gain work experience and develop a career within the Building Control profession. 

The post holder will assist and gain experience in the Council’s Building Control team to administer, enforce and advise on Building Regulations and associated legislation. They will assist with assessing Building Control applications, carrying out inspections and maintain detailed records. They will work with clients to provide a high-quality customer service as required within a competitive market.

The ideal candidate will be a person with (or working towards) an HNC in Building Studies or similar building related subject, a minimum of 5 GCSEs and experience in a building and construction environment.

Suitable candidates will have knowledge of Building Control and construction techniques. Able to work outside (including the ability to climb ladders and work at height) and have excellent oral, written, communication and IT skills.

The Council strongly believe in developing their employees and as such the successful candidate will be fully supported during their employment. As part of this career development, you will be required to attend a subject related course usually a degree in Building Control in order to enhance skills and qualifications. Training will also be provided on the job and working by the building control team and working under supervision as a Class 1 Registered Building Inspector. (The cost of all training and registration will be met by the Council).
